We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit First Response Coalition.

The short explanation of this alert was:
Please send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper in support of making September 25 National First Responder Appreciation Day. In doing so, you will be calling attention to the fact that the brave men and women that protect your community have no national day of recognition for the contributions and sacrifices that they make.

We've provided some talking points to guide you. They are located in the gray box below, where you can write your letter. Also, here are some helpful tips on how to write an effective letter to the editor:
  • Write 500 words or less. The shorter your letter is, the more likely it will be published.
  • Don't forget to include your contact information! The papers may need to contact you for confirmation before it becomes published.
  • Most publications prefer that you write letters that are exclusive to them. Don't send identical letters to multiple papers.
